ব্যাখ্যা: The Marchent of Venice এর  Shylock একজন ইহুদি  Money Lender. সে অন্য এক ইহুদি ব্যবসায়ী Antonio কে কঠিন শর্ত  সাপেক্ষে ঋণ দিয়েছিল। ঋণ পরিশোধে ব্যর্থ  হলে, শাইলক চুক্তি অনুযায়ী Antonio এর শরীর থেকে এক পাউন্ট মাংশ কেটে নিতে চেয়েছিল। কিন্তু Portia নামক এক বিচারক তাকে এই বলে রক্ষ করে যে, শাইলক চুক্তি অনুযায়ী এ্যন্টনিওর শরীর থেকে এক পাউন্ট মাংশ কেটে নিতে পারবে, তবে কোন রক্তপাত করতে পারবে না। কেননা শর্তে রক্তপাতের কথা উল্লেখ ছিল না।এই নাটকের আরেকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ন চরিত্র হচ্ছে Bassanio. আর William Shakespear এর Othello নাটকটি Moor সর্ম্পকে।
