There are many reasons for which many a student in our country (a) —- (fail) in English.
That English is a foreign language is the main reason. English is as if it (b) —- (to be) a language (c) — (mean) for a particular class of people.
It (d) —– (regard) as a sheer wastage of time. They (f) —- (consider) cramming is the only way to learn English.
But (g) —- (have) they been earnest in learning English, they could have (h) —– (learn) it easily.
Moreover, they are not (i) —— (motivate) properly.
In addition, the textbooks (j) —- (not write) according to the need of the learners.

ব্যাখ্যা: অর্থ- ‘অনেক কারণ রয়েছে যে সবের দরুন আমাদের দেশের অনেক শিক্ষার্থী ইংরেজিতে অকৃতকার্য হয়।’
বাংলা অর্থ থেকে বোঝতে পারছি Sentence টি একটি Present Indefinite Tense এর একটি Sentence.
ব্রেকেটের Verb টির Subject হচ্ছে Many a student. Manyএর পর সাধারণত Plural noun এবং plural verb হয়।
কিন্তু Many a এরপর Singular Noun এবংSingular verb হবে। অতএব এখানে Answer হবে fails
Answer (a) fails.

ব্যাখ্যা: অর্থ- ‘ইংরেজি যে হচ্ছে একটি বিদেশি ভাষা, এটি হচ্ছে প্রধান কারণ।’
এই লাইনটিতে কোন গ্যাপ নাই ।

3. English is as if it (b) —- (to be) a language (c) — (mean) for a particular class of people.
ব্যাখ্যা: অর্থ- ‘ইংরেজি এমন একটি ভাষা, যা বিশেষ শ্রেণির মনে করা হয়।’
এই Sentence গ্যাপ(b) এর আগে একটি Phrase – as if রয়েছে।
as if ও as though এর বাংলা অর্থ হল “যেন”
- as if ও as though এর আগের বাক্যটি যদি present indefinite tense হয় তবে এর পরের বাক্যটি past indefinite tense হবে।
যেমনঃ He speaks as if he knew everything. - As if ও as though এর আগের বাক্যটি যদি past indefinite tense হয় তবে পরের বাক্যটি past perfect tense হবে।
যেমনঃHe talked as though he had known everything. - As if ও as though এর পরে to be verb থাকলে তার জায়গায় were হবে আর যদি to have verb থাকে, তবে তার জায়গায় had হবে।
যেমনঃ
Question: Rishan walks as if he (to be) lame. (30th BCS)
Answer: Rishan walks as if he were lame.
অতএব. এখানে Answer (b) were
প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ গ্যাপ (c) তে যে Verb টি রয়েছে সে mean- verb এর Subject হচ্ছে English এবং এরপর is হলো Auxiliary Verb. আর অর্থ থেকে বোঝো যায এই অংশটি একটি Passive Voice এর Sentence . অতএব গ্যাপ (c) এর Verb এর Past Participle করতে হবে। অতএব Answer (c) meant হবে।

4. It (d) —– (regard) as a sheer wastage of time.
ব্যাখ্যা: এই লাইনটি বাংলা অর্থ: ‘ এটি (ইংরেজি শেখা) নিছক সময় অপচয় বলে বিবেচনা করা হয়’।
গ্যাপের regard অর্থ বিবেচনা করা। কিন্তু এখানে এই Sentence টি Passive Voice করা হয়েছে।
এবং Sentence টি Present Indefinite Tense এ রয়েছে।
অতএব এখানে একটি Auxiliary Verb ব্যবহার করে মূল Verb এর Past Particle করতে হবে।
গ্যাপে is এবং regarded ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
Answer (d) is regarded.
5. They (f) —- (consider) cramming is the only way to learn English.
ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে Cram মূল Verb থেকে Cramming অর্থ ‘না বোঝে মুখস্ত করা’। লাইনটির বাংলা অর্থ- ‘ তারা মনে করে ইংরেজি শিক্ষার একমাত্র উপায় হচ্ছে, না বোঝে মুখস্ত করা’।
দেখেন: এই Passage টিতে ইংরেজি শেখার বিষয়ে যে ধ্যাণধারনা প্রচলিত আছে, সেগুলো তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। তাই Sentence গুলোও Present Indefinite Tense এ আছে।
এখানে Subject হচ্ছে They যা Plural. সুতরাং ব্রেকেটের Verb এর কোন পরিবর্তন হবে না।
Answer (f) consider.

6. But (g) —- (have) they been earnest in learning English, they could have (h) —– (learn) it easily.
ব্যাখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ- ‘কিন্তু তারা যাদি ইংরেজি শেখার বিষয়ে আগ্রহী হতো, তবে এটি তারা খুব সহজেই শিখতে পারতো’।
আমরা সহজেই বোঝতে পারছি যে, প্রদত্ত Sentence টি একটি Third conditional Sentence. যেমন: Had + sub + been+ v এর P.P, sub + could/would have + v এর pp.
অতএব এখানে গ্যাপ (g) হবে had; গ্যাপ (h) হবে verb এর past participle- learnt.
Answer (g) had; (h) learnt.
7. Moreover, they are not (i) —— (motivate) properly.
ব্যাখ্যা: বাংল অর্থ- ‘তাছাড়া তাদের যথাযথভাবে উদ্বুদ্ধ করা হয়নি’। দেখেন এই Sentence এর Subject ও কাজ করছে না। মানে নিষ্কৃয় ।
তাদের যথাযথভাবে উদ্বুদ্ধ করা হয়নি- তদের কেউ উদ্বুদ্ধ করেনি।
অন্য কারো দ্বারা উদ্বুদ্ধ করা হতো। subject কাজ করছে না। সুতরাং Passive Voice .
এখানে Subject , auxiliary verb আছে। নিয়ম অনুযায়ী মূল verb এর Past participle হবে।

ব্যাখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ- ‘ অধিকন্তু, পাঠ্য বইগুলো শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী লেখা নয়’।
দেখুন এখানে বলা আছে ’পাঠ্যবইগুলো লেখা নয়’। পাঠ্য বই তো আর নিজে নিজেকে লিখ না। অন্য কেউ লেখে।
অতএব এখানে Subject কাজ করছে না। Passive Voice. এখানে Plural subject- the textbooks.
তাই, Auxiliary verb- are বসবে এবং Verb এর Past participle হবে।
