It is high time completing sentence এর খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি Rule. এই Rule থেকে বাংলাদেশে প্রতি বছরই Academic এবং Competitive পরীক্ষাগুলো অসংখ্য প্রশ্ন আসে। তাই আজ আমরা এই Rule টি নিয়ে আলোচনা করবো।
It is time / It is high time এর পরে দুই রকম Clause ব্যবহার করা যায়। একটি হলো infinitive phrase যুক্ত Clause. আর অন্যটি হলো Past indefinite tense-এর clause ।
তবে কোনো কাজ করার সঠিক সময় হয়েছে অর্থ্যাৎ সময় অতিবাহিত হয়নি এমনটি বোঝাতে infinitive phrase ব্যবহৃত হবে।
কিন্তু কোনো কাজ করার সময়টি ইতোমধ্যে পার হয়ে গেছে, এবং তাই বিলম্ব না করে এখনই কাজটি শুরু করা উচিত বোঝাতে Past Indefinite Tense-এর clause ব্যবহৃত হয়।একটি বিষয় মনে রাখবেন, এ ধরনের sentence দ্বারা present tense-এর অর্থ প্রকাশ পায়।
বেশি জোর / গুরুত্ব বোঝানোর জন্য It is time এর পরিবর্তে It is high time ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Structure: It is time / It is high time এর structure ও Example নিচে তুলে ধরা হলো।
- a) It is time / It is high time + (for + object)+ to + verb-এর base form + Extension
- b) It is time / It is high time + sub2 + verb-এর past form + Extension
