In 1993, Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, an honor he shared with 15 F.W. de Klerk, the white African leader who had freed him from prison three years earlier and negotiated the end of apartheid. 

Mandela went on to play a prominent role on the world stage as an advocate of human dignity in the face of challenges ranging from political repression to AIDS.

The passage focuses on the political struggle of Nelson Mandela. Mandel wanted  the emancipation of the black people of South Africa from the shackles of apartheid. This great man struggle throughout his life for establishing a democratic and discrimination free society. Actually, it was his ideal. For this , he had to embrace  imprisonment for nearly three decades. He won the support of the world’s people through his struggle and charisma. He was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. In the following year, he was elected South Africa’s first black President. This great man is no more in us.
