ব্যfখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ ‘কিন্তু সৃষ্টিকর্তা অবশেষে তার প্রতি দয়া দেখিয়েছেন’। এখানে গ্যাপের আগে ও পরে আছে took pity —- him.
Take pity on someone হচ্ছে একটি phrase যার বাংলা অর্থ কারো প্রতি দয়া দেখানো/ অনুকম্পা দেখানো। অতএব এখানে Preposition হিসাবে on বসবে।

ব্যখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ ‘তাদের (সাপগুলোর) গায়ের রং এতো সুন্দর ছিলো এবং তার মন এমন এক অদ্ভুত বিস্ময়ে পরিপূর্ণ হলো যে, সে সাপগুলোর জন্য গভীর ভালবাসা অনুভব করলো এবং সে তার মন থেকে তাদের (সাপ গুলোকে) আশির্বাদ করলো’। দেখেন এটি অনেক বড় একটি লাইন। আমরা ভেঙ্গে ভেঙ্গে আলোচনা করার চেষ্টা করবো।
এখানে গ্যাপ (c) তে আছে ‘filled (c) —- such a strange wonder’ যার অর্থ ‘এমন এক অদ্ভুত বিস্ময়ে পরিপূর্ণ হয়েছিলো’।

কোন কিছ দিয়ে পরিপূর্ণ হওয়া বোঝাতে fill with something ব্যবহৃত হয়। অর্থ্যাৎ fill এরপর Preposition- with বসে।

গ্যাপ (d) তে লক্ষ্য করুন ‘he felt a great love (d) — them যার বাংলা দাঁড়ায় ‘নাবিক সাপ গুলোর জন্য a great love অনুভব করেছিলেন’। কার জন্য? সাপ গুলোর জন্য। জন্য বোঝাতে Preposition-for ব্যবহৃত হবে। অর্থ্যাৎ a great love (d) for them (water-snakes).

ব্যাখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ ‘তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে তার (নাবিকের) গলা থেকে মৃত এ্যালবাট্রুস পাখিটি সাগরে পড়ে যায়’। এই লাইনটিতে ২টি গ্যাপ আছে।
গ্যাপ (f) এ আছে ‘the dead albatross fell (f) — his neck অর্থ ‘মৃত এ্যালবাট্রেস পাখিটি তার গলা থেকে পড়ে গিয়েছিলো’। এখানে বলা হচ্ছে ‘তার গলা থেকে’ মানে from his neck। অতএব এখানে Preposition হিসেবে from ব্যবহৃত হয়।

ব্যাখ্যা: বাংলা অর্থ ‘দক্ষিণা মৃদু বাতাস বইতে শুরু করল এবং বৃদ্ধ লোকটি গভীর ঘুমে আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে পড়ল’।
এখানে গ্যাপ (h) এ বলা হয়েছে ‘a gentle breeze began to blow (h) —- the south’ যার অর্থ ‘দক্ষিণা মৃদু বাতাস বইতে শুরু করল’। মানে দক্ষিণ দিক থেকে বাতাস বইতে শুরু করল। মোট কথা দক্ষিণ দিক থেকে = from the south.
অতএব এখানে Preposition হিসেবে from ব্যবহৃত হবে।

গ্যাপ (i) তে বলা হচ্ছে the old man fall (i) —- a deep sleep. অর্থ্যাৎ ‘বৃদ্ধ লোকটি গভীর ঘুমে আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে পড়ল’। ‘গভীর ঘুমে আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে পড়া’ ইংরেজি হলো ‘fall into a deep sleep’. অতএব গ্যাপ (i) এ Preposition হিসেবে into ব্যবহৃত হবে।
